About the Bake Shop

our first ingredient has always been love…

It’s true for every medically tailored meal we deliver through Open Hand, and every loaf of bread we bake for the Bake Shop. It’s in part why we began offering our bread around the holiday season all those years ago: to continue spreading that feeling of love that only food can bring. Since then, your purchases of sweet bread from our Bake Shop have funded thousands of medically tailored meals for our neighbors in need, giving them peace of mind and good health during the holiday season and beyond.

In 2025, we officially opened the Bake Shop year-round, and are thrilled to now offer our breads whenever the craving strikes. This is in part due to the efforts of our incredible Workforce Development Program: the apprentices training in this program have baked every loaf in the shop! Now, not only do your purchases support the nutrition of the neighbors we serve, but the empowerment of the individuals enrolled in this thriving program.
